BEAUJOLAIS

Sometimes mentioned in the same breath as Burgundy, sometimes distinguished from it by its different grape variety, Gamay, Beaujolais encompasses many villages, each with its own distinctive character. More fruity and lively in their youth, the older Beaujolais mellow with time. Some of the crus are pleasurably easy to drink while others, like Morgon or Saint-Amour are more demanding and deep.
