CORNAS

With only 145 hectares to the north of Valence, tucked away in the town of Cornas, this appellation has often found itself overshadowed by the Côte-Rôtie and l'Hermitage. Often underrated, the wines of Cornas nevertheless give full expression to the power of the Syrah grape, being powerful, concentrated and well suited to keeping. Charlemagne is said to have passed through Cornas and appreciated the wines so much that he had them shipped to his palace in Aix-la-Chapelle. The vineyard has along history, under cultivation since antiquity.
