Burgundy - 2001

The climate was variable. Storms caused considerable damage to the southern half of Pommard. That said, it was a great season and a great vintage for the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuit appellations, uniformly good. It will be a vintage to keep. For the Côte de Nuit, the reds are of great consistency. In Côte de Beaune the whites are fruity, persistent with a lovely minerality. Like many vintages, 2001 will be overshadowed by the huge success of the 1999 and 2002 vintages.
